A
building under construction in the Ikeja area of the commercial city of
Lagos, has collapsed as rescue operations by government authorities are
currently ongoing.
Scene of the incident
According to the Rapid Response Squad (RRS) of the Lagos State
Police Command who posted the photos on social media, an uncompleted
two-storey building in Makinde Street, Ikeja Area of the state has just
collapsed.
RRS operatives, officials of Lagos State Building Control Agency
and Lagos State Emergency Management Agency are already on ground to
ensure the rescue of people who may be trapped under the rubbles and
forestall any further escalation of the current situation.
As at the time of compiling this report, rescue operations was
already in progress at the site of the uncompleted two storey building.
"An uncompleted two storey building collapsed in Makinde Street, Ikeja. Area cordoned off for rescue operation.
"Rescue operation in progress at the site of an uncompleted 2 storey building that collapsed in Makinde Street, Ikeja
"RRS operatives, officials of Lagos State Building Control Agency and Lagos State Emergency Management Agency," the security agency wrote on Twitter.
