A Boko Haram suicide bomber has been shot dead by troops of the Nigerian Army as he tried to detonate a bomb at the outskirts of Maiduguri. This was revealed in a statement by Acting Director Army Public Relations, Colonel Sani Kukasheka Usman.

A suicide bomber was yesterday, 12th of May, 2015 attacked a government building in Borno State has killed two security operatives with several others injured in the bomb blast.

A combined team of Nigeria policemen maintaining security at the entrance of Borno State Government Secretariat, (which was known as Musa Usman Secretariat) in Maiduguri, intercepted and prevented a male suicide bomber from entering to attack workers based on suspicion.

Amazing story of how a mother re-united with the son she left behind in Boko Haram camp

Margaret, a mother of 5 (pictured above) was abducted with two of her children, a son Jacob and daughter Halima from her village in Damboa Borno state late last year. She was taken to a Boko Haram camp where she met another abductee, Hauwa. Worried and unsettled about the safety and well being of her other children aged six, eight and ten she left behind when she was abducted, Margaret took the risk and fled the sect members camp with her daughter, handing over her son to Hauwa who she begged to look after him for her.

Army spokesman says 200 girls rescued yesterday are not Chibok girls?

The army tweeted that they can't confirm if Chibok girls were among the 200 girls they rescued from Sambisa forest yesterday, that they will know after they screen and profile the rescued girls. But now Reuters, AP and Al-Jazeera are reporting that an Army Spokesperson has confirmed Chibok girls are not among the 293 girls and women rescued yesterday.

Bolivian football team cancels friendly match with Nigeria over fear of Boko Haram

The Bolivian football team has called off its international friendly match with Nigeria which was due to take place at the new Akwa Ibom International stadium in Uyo on March 26th.
At a press conference in Santa Cruz today, the president of the Bolivian Football Federation, Carlos Chavez said armed conflicts in Nigeria as well as political tension forced them to cancel the match "The armed conflict in Nigeria and the tense political situation forced the cancellation of the game" Chavez said

3,700 homes destroyed in Baga as Amnesty Int'l release satellite images from attack

Amnesty International has released satellite images from the January 2nd and 7th Boko Haram attack in Baga Borno state. Early reports put the death toll from the attack at 2000 but that has been disputed by the Nigerian military who put the death toll at 150.
According to a reportcarried out by AI's Nigeria researcher, Daniel Eyre, about 3,700 homes in two villages, Baga and Doron Baga were destroyed by the militants. The report claims that of all the Boko Haram attacks, the one carried out in Baga last week is so far the deadliest. Continue...

Angelina Jolie condemns Boko Haram attacks

Actress and UN ambassador, Angelina Jolie has condemned the various attacks by Boko Haram in Nigeria. She condemned the activities of the terror group in a statement released yesterday Jan. 13th,
"Each new crime committed by Boko Haram exceeds the last in brutality. This is a direct consequence of the environment of total impunity in which Boko Haram operates. 9 days after BH attack killed as many as 2,000, bodies still litter streets

According to a report by CNN, 9 days after Boko Haram launched an attack on Baga community in Borno state on January 3rd, bodies of the reported 2000 residents killed still litter the area.
Chairman of Kukawa Local Government where Baga falls under, says no corpse has been retrieved from the area for burial because Baga is still not safe to go into. "It is still no‎t safe to go and pick them up for burial," he said
Sen. Maina Ma'aji Lawan representing Borno North senatorial district told CNN that Baga is still not accessible as members of the sect group are still there. "Baga is not accessible because it is still occupied by Boko Haram" he said

14 soldiers died in Baga attack - Defense Headquarters

The Nigerian Defense Headquarters has released a statement saying a total of 14 soldiers died during gun battle between members of terror group Boko Haram in Baga, Borno state over the weekend.
The statement released yesterday January 11th by Gen Chris Olukolade below...
“A total of 14 soldiers were killed in action during the attack, while over 30 who were wounded are now receiving medical attention. Most of those declared missing in action have also rejoined their unit in the ongoing reorganisation for further operations. Although several of the terrorists died in the course of the attack and efforts at repelling the assailants, the actual figure of civilian casualties is yet to be creditably determined as is being propagated in certain quarters.

18 Female Soldiers Feared Kidnapped In Baga, Borno state

Sahara Reporters is reporting that Boko Haram militants may have kidnapped 18 female soldiers in Baga in Borno State. Report below...
Two sources told SaharaReporters that, out of 26 female soldiers posted to the military base of the Multinational Joint Task Force, only eight have so far been accounted for.

B’Haram attacks two state capitals again

At least 29 people were killed and more than 65 others wounded on Monday in two separate attacks by suspected Boko Haram insurgents on the capitals of Gombe and Bauchi states.
The Gombe State attack was by a female bomber who struck at the Dukku Motor Park in Gombe. She killed 19 and left 40 others injured at about 10.58am.
Almost five hours and 28 minutes after, another insurgent detonated a bomb hidden in a shop at the ever-busy Central Market in Bauchi.

Emir Of Kano In Danger? Boko Haram Leader Shekau Vows To Attack Emir Sanusi Of Kano In New Video

Boko Haram leader, Abubakar Shekau, has threatened to attack the Emir of Kano, Muhummadu Sanusi II, in retaliation for the Emir’s call on Kano residents and other Nigerians to arm and defend themselves against the terror organization.
In a new video released weekend, Mr. Shekau said his group does not consider Mr. Sanusi a true Muslim, and will attack him whenever an opportunity presents itself.

Woman suicide bomber ‘kills several’ in Nigerian market


Fresh bomb blast in Bauchi
A female suicide bomber blew herself up on Sunday at a mobile phone market in northeast Nigeria, killing several people, witnesses said.
The attack happened in the town of Azare in Bauchi state, which neighbours the three states worst hit by attacks from Boko Haram Islamists.
“A suicide bomber came into the market as it was closing and blew herself up in the middle of all the merchants and their customers,” a witness said.
“I saw at least eight dead and lots of others wounded,” another witness, Alyu Habib, told AFP.
Although information is still sketchy, it appears that the bomb went off on Sunday evening.
Incidentally, this is the third bomb attack on the town in recent time. An explosion last week left 13 people dead.
The branch of First Bank of Nigeria Plc in the town was bombed on November 7, while people were queuing up to withdraw money from an ATM.
