Edo Election Could Be Postponed for a Second Time!...See New Development

There are agitations for a further postponement of the Edo State gubernatorial election which has been an object of controversy and politicking.

The All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) candidate in the governorship election in Edo rescheduled to Sept. 28, Osaro Onaiwu, has called for further shift of the exercise to Oct. 1, according to the News Agency of Nigeria.


The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) on Thursday announced the postponement of the election fixed for Saturday to Sept. 28, following insecurity alert by security agencies.

"I am Ready To Go To Jail" – Saraki

Following his cases in several courts, the Senate President, Bukola Saraki has insisted that he would rather go to jail than yield to some nefarious agenda of a few individuals who are out to destroy democracy.
Saraki said this in a statement he issued shortly after he appeared at a Federal High Court in Abuja alongside three others for alleged forgery of senate rules.
The Senate President who is also facing criminal trial at the Code of Conduct Tribunal, CCT, for false assets declaration described his latest legal battle as proof of the "persecution and distraction" he is currently enmeshed in.

APC National Chairman, Oyegun denies calling for the probe of Supreme Court Judges over their ruling on Rivers state

APC National Chairman, John Odigie-Oyegun, has denied media reports that he called for the probe of Supreme Court judges after they ruled in favor of PDP in the Rivers state governorship election matter. The reports had alleged that he said this while speaking with some Rivers state APC members who paid him a visit at the party secretariat in Abuja on Wednesday February 3rd. Oyegun who denied the report in a statement released by the party's National Secretary, Mala Buni, said at no time during their discussion did he call for such probe.

Saraki's trial must go on- Suprem court rules

The Supreme court has ruled that Senate President, Bukola Saraki must continue his trial at the Code of Conduct Tribunal (CCT). In a judgement delivered this morning, the apex court dismissed Saraki's appeal challenging the authority of the tribunal in trying him for a 13 count charge of asset falsification filed against him by the Federal government last year.
The apex court ruled that the tribunal had the constitutional power to try him and so his trial must continue.

Pres. Jonathan demanded N2trillion election funds to be refunded?

According to an exclusive Punchreport, he did. Below is what they are reporting...
Following the defeat suffered by President Jonathan and his party, the PDP during the March 28 and April 11 elections, the President has asked the party and government officials who handled campaign funds to refund monies not spent, or those not judiciously expended,Sunday Punchcan authoritatively report.
Jonathan, credible sources said, has also set up a committee of five to get those with the funds to return them.

Whoever wants to impeach me will have to impeach God - Fayose

Governor Ayo Fayose of Ekiti state says for anyone to successfully impeach him, they would have to impeach God first. Gov. Fayose said this during an audience participatory programme; 'Meet Your Governor' aired on the State Television, EKTV, Ekiti Radio, Progress FM and NTA, Ado Ekiti yesterday April 6th.
"I’m like Israel that is in the midst of enemies but will always prevail. Whoever wants to remove me will first have to impeach God.

Ekiti State Assembly commences plot to impeach Ayo Fayose

Legislators at Ekiti Assembly have served Governor Ayo Fayose an impeachment notice and have given him seven days to respond.
At least 18 members of the Ekiti State House of Assembly have agreed to commence investigations into allegations of grave misconduct against the governor. One of the legislators in Ekiti told Sahara Reporters, “We are going to look at the allegations against Governor Fayose in a responsible manner and make our decision in line with the rule of law and the overall interest of the people of the state.”
If indeed Fayose gets successfully impeached, it would mark his second impeachment in office.

Pres. Jonathan & his family begin to move personal effects from Aso Rock

According to a report by Punch, President Jonathan and his family members have started moving their personal belongings out of the Presidential Villa in Abuja. One of the newspaper's reporters said he saw some buses loaded with travel bags moving out of the President’s official residence yesterday afternoon Friday April 3rd.
It is believed that the president and his family will return to Otuoke, Bayelsa, once his tenure ends on May 29th.
There are also reports that the reason for the early removal of personal belongings of the First Family is to allow for renovation work of the residence to commence before Buhari comes into power in May.

Photos: PDP burial procession in Kaduna,Borno and FCT Abuja

APC supporters commenced a PDP burial procession from Tudun Wada area of Kaduna this morning at about11am. They are heading to Murtala square. While the euphoric activity has been generally peaceful, they did harass a few motorists on the Western Bypass which is on their route.
Kaduna is known to be GMB's base so we expect this jubilation to continue throughout the week.
