Ekitigate: Former Senator Iyiola Omisore Arrested by EFCC Over N1.3billion Ekiti Election Loot

EFCC has reportedly nabbed Omisore after declaring him wanted for a long period of time in connection with financial crimes. 

 

Operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission have arrested a former gubernatorial candidate of the People's Democratic Party, Senator Iyiola Omisore.

 

Omisore was picked up earlier this morning in Abuja and has since been in the custody of the anti-graft agencies facing interrogation for his role in the election funding fraud.

 EFCC sources told SaharaReporters that the Senator received over N1.3billion from funds pilfered from the office of the National Security Adviser to fund and rig Governor Ayodele Fayose into office in 2014.

Ekiti State Assembly commences plot to impeach Ayo Fayose

Legislators at Ekiti Assembly have served Governor Ayo Fayose an impeachment notice and have given him seven days to respond.
At least 18 members of the Ekiti State House of Assembly have agreed to commence investigations into allegations of grave misconduct against the governor. One of the legislators in Ekiti told Sahara Reporters, “We are going to look at the allegations against Governor Fayose in a responsible manner and make our decision in line with the rule of law and the overall interest of the people of the state.”
If indeed Fayose gets successfully impeached, it would mark his second impeachment in office.

Photo: 80yr old man arrested for allegedly raping 12yr old in Ekiti

80 year old Pa Olajide Ojo (pictured above) has been arrested by the Ekiti state Police command for allegedly raping a 12 year old girl at his resident located at No. B22, Oke Ode Idogun Street, Ikole–Ekiti on 24th of December, 2014.
According to police reports, the little girl was out hawking her wares when the old man called her and lured her into his room and raped her. The cry of the girl attracted neighbours who promptly alerted the police. Medical examination on the little girl showed she was raped. He is expected to be charged to court soon.
