BREAKING NEWS: Buhari wins APC presidential primary, faces Jonathan in 2015

 Former Head of State, Maj. Gen Muhammadu Buhari (retd.), on Thursday won the All Progressives Congress presidential primary at the party’s national convention in Lagos, beating four other contenders.
Buhari polled 3,430 votes to beat Kano State Governor, Rabiu Kwankwaso, who scored 974 votes, to the second position while former Vice President, Atiku Abubakar, got 954 votes to occupy the third position.

The Presidential primaries of the APC will hold today at the Teslim Balogun Stadium Lagos. Five aspirants including former Head of State, Gen. Mohammadu Buhari rtd, former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, Governors of Kano and Imo States, Dr. Rabiu Kwankwaso and Chief Rochas Okorocha, and the publisher of Leadership Newspaper, Sam Nda-Isaiah will contest for the parties presidential ticket. The APC governorship candidates for the 2015 polls, as they emerged on Thursday, include Speaker of the House of Representatives, Aminu Tambuwal (Sokoto); a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria and public administrator, Akinwunmi Abode(Lagos); a former Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nasir el-Rufai (Kaduna); and second-term-seeking governors, Ibikunle Amosun (Ogun); Abdulfattah Ahmed (Kwara) and Abiola Ajimobi (Oyo).
