A 34-year-old woman fooled people into thinking she was a 15-year-old high school student.
The woman, whose real name is Charity Johnson, adopted a fictitious identity - Charity Stevens, a teenage girl who was an orphan and was abused as a child.
She was arrested on Monday, over six months after she enrolled in New Life Christian High school pretending to be a student, Daily Mail reports.
Johnson told her fake sad story to 30-year-old Tamica Lincoln,
who was a co-worker at McDonald’s. Lincoln was moved by Johnson’s
story, and allowed her to move into her home, becoming her guardian.
‘She acted like a kid. She did her homework. She got good report cards,’ said Lincoln.
Suspicions about her identity began to arise after she attempted to join a group that helps children in need.
A background check was later conducted by her employers, revealing her web of lies.
When Johnson was arrested, “…teachers
were crying and students were crying, and her best friend just couldn’t
believe it,” Lincoln said.
She has been charged with giving false, fictitious information. She is currently in a county Jail on $500 bond.
