Investigations have revealed that four close associates of the
embattled Ekiti State governor and chieftain of the People's Democratic
Party, Ayodele Peter Fayose have been arrested by the operatives of the
Economic and Financial Crimes Commission in Lagos State.
According to Vanguard, officials of the bank which facilitated the
transfer of slush funds from a former Minister, Musiliu Obanikoro have
been detained alongside the arrowhead of the operation, Abiodun Agbele
who was allegedly nabbed while trying to doctor the documents of the
properties he purchased for his principal with the illicit funds.
Economic and Financial Crimes Commission Spokesman, Wilson Uwujaren, confirmed the arrest but did not give further details.
“It is true that we arrested some men who were fronting for governor. They are in our Lagos Office. That is all I can say for now,” Uwujaren said last night.
Meanwhile, Fayose has said that he 'remain resolute in making his opinions known on national issues and will not be intimidated.”
Fayose made this known yesterday in an angry reaction to the arrest of some men, who allegedly aided and abetted him in laundering part of the cash taken from the office of the former National Security Officer.
