Man, identified as Jacob Nwachukwu from Abala in Obingwa Local Government Area of Abia State, has cut off his wife's left hand over allegation of infidelity. The man's wife, Mrs Nwadiokeonu Nwachukwu, is now at a hospital in Aba, while her severed hand had been taken to her husband's village at Abala for burial.
The incident happened, Monday, at Ogbor Hill Area of Aba, where the woman had lived for years, while the husband lived at their Abala village.

Governor Nasir el-Rufai of Kaduna State has approved the appointment of Mallam Aliyu Muhammed Salisu as his Special Assistant on Persons with Disabilities. This was contained in a press statement issued by his media aide, Mr Samuel Aruwan, in Kaduna today.
According to the statement, Salisu, who hails from Sabon Gari, Zaria, holds a Diploma in Special Education from the Kaduna Polytechnic and another Diploma in Guidance and Counselling from the Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria.
He is a member of the National Association of the Blind and has worked at the Kaduna State Rehabilitation Centre, the statement read.

38 year old Nigerian man, Olaoluwa Ibrahim was yesterday July 28th sentenced to jail by the Central Criminal Court in London for raping and stealing from a woman he attacked in Central London in June last year.
UK's metropolitan police say Ibrahim's victim was on her way back from an outing with her friends in Central London when he accosted her and raped her.
After leaving her friends, the victim got on a bus and decided to stop close to her house so she could take a short walk home.

FAAN denies stopping Patience Jonathan from using VIP lounge at Port Harcourt Int'l Airport

The Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) has denied reports that former First Lady, Patience Jonathan was denied access to the VIP lounge of the Port Harcourt International Airport recently. FAAN in a statement issued by its general manager Corporate Affairs, Mr Yakubu Dati today July 28th, said the reports are false and misleading.

“We wish to state that no such thing happened as Dame Patience Jonathan, like other family members of former Presidents and other designated principal officers of government, are officially entitled to the use of airports’ VIP and protocol lounges under the management of FAAN.
The Authority holds the former First Lady in high esteem, being the wife of our former President and, therefore, could not have done anything that would suggest disrespect for her person,” it said.

The statement added that the former first lady’s convoy was only denied access to the foot of the aircraft during boarding formalities, a procedure which is in line with international aviation best practices. The statement said:

“Our security officials explained this fact in detail to the former first lady. We wish to recall that former President Goodluck Jonathan in his recent trips from the same airport, had to walk to the aircraft from the protocol lounge, in recognition of this ICAO regulation.”

Okonjo-Iweala In Fresh $2.2m Trouble As Ministry Of Health Accuses Her

Officials of Nigeria's Federal Ministry of Health (FMOH) are questioning how former Finance Minister Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala handled payment of the sum of $2.2 million that was the subject of a dispute between the Health Ministry and a global non-governmental organization called the Global Alliance for Vaccine and Immunization (GAVI).
A letter written by the permanent secretary of the Ministry of Health wondered why Ms. Okonjo-Iweala's Ministry of Finance rushed to pay the disputed sum to GAVI, a health NGO that had claimed that Nigeria's health officials had misappropriated the funds between 2011 and 2013.

Man Bags Jail Term In Kano For Beating Woman

Silvester Okuku, 33, of Badawa Quarters in Kano has been sentenced to two months imprisonment by for beating one Comfort King.
The accused was charged for criminal force, an offence which contravened Section 265 of the Penal Code.
