Ronke Shonde: Alleged Wife-Killer to be Arraigned for Murder as Wife's Family Keep Mum on Autopsy

The popular alleged murder case involving Lekan Shonde who supposedly killed his wife in their home has taken a new twist as he is taken to court.

The late Ronke Shonde and her husband, Lekan Shonde

Mr. Lekan Shonde, the husband of Late Mrs. Ronke Shonde, whom he allegedly murdered in a case of domestic squabble, will on Friday be charged to court for murder.

This is coming a day after the autopsy report conducted by the Lagos State University Teaching Hospital (LASUTH) declared that the deceased died of respiratory seizure and bruises on the head.

Confirming this at exactly 8.09pm, the state Police Public Relations Officer, Dolapo Badmos, a Superintendent of Police, said the suspect has a case to answer.

According to ThisDay, a terse text message from the police said, “The autopsy has revealed that Mr Lekan Shonde, the alleged killer of his wife has case to answer. Therefore he will be charged to court tomorrow (Friday) to answer a charge of murder.”

Thus, the suspect would tomorrow be charged to Ebute Metta Magistrate Court in Lagos, to answer for the role he allegedly played in his wife’s death.

Also yesterday, the bereaved family refused to comment on the autopsy, which stated that Ronke Shonde died of “respiratory seizure.”

“Please, I do not want to comment on anything. We do not want to talk about it. We have not fixed burial date yet. Please, respect my decision. I am not going to talk,” a family member said.

Owoseni refused to give details about Shonde’s impending arraignment, saying: “”When you come to court tomorrow, you will know the charges against him. I will not tell you anything about the autopsy because that information is for the court.”
