A video captured by a passer-by on the mobile phone shows the naked woman heading to the church with a crying baby in her hands. According to local media, the woman who was wearing nothing but a purple turban was walking to the church to ‘ward off evil spirits’
The woman did not show signs of being cold as she walked past warmly dressed locals in Nizhnevartovsk, a city in western Siberia, Russia, where temperatures are currently around minus 12 degrees centigrade.
Later she was seen bowing several times in front of the Orthodox church. Some of the people inside the church said that she was exorcising ‘evil spirits’.
Police said the yet-to-be-identified woman has been sent to a mental home while her child was taken to hospital. The details of the incident are still under investigation.
